How scut handles your data
Last updated July 2026 · scut is made by Molto, LLC
What scut stores
When you use scut, we store the data you create:
- Your account. Your name and email, via Sign in with Apple or email sign-up. If you use Apple's private relay, that's the email we get.
- Your profile. PGY year, institution, and your default surgical location — you provide these during setup and can change them any time.
- Your case log. Procedure metadata: CPT code, procedure, date, your role, the attending and institution you choose to record, lens and setting details, and outcome measures you enter.
- Your development record. Self-assessment ratings, per-step assessments, reflections, journal entries, tags, and milestones.
- Social activity. If you post a case to the feed, that post and its reactions and comments are visible to other residents you're connected with — sharing is always an explicit action, never a default.
What scut never stores
scut is a record of your development, not anyone's health information. There are no fields for patient names, birthdates, MRNs, or any patient identifiers — and the ACGME import deliberately skips the patient-related columns in your export file. Free-text fields will warn you if a note starts to look like patient information. That warning is a reminder, not surveillance: nothing you write is reviewed by a person.
Where it lives
Your data is stored with Supabase, our managed database provider, in the United States. Access is scoped so that only your account can read your data. Your session is stored in your device's Keychain.
Analytics
We use PostHog to understand how the app is used — which screens get opened, which features get used. These events are tied to your account so we can understand usage patterns, but they're product analytics, not tracking: we don't track you across other apps or sites, and we don't share or sell this data. The app's Apple privacy manifest declares exactly this and nothing more.
Export and deletion
You can export your complete case log to CSV from inside the app at any time — the file is generated on your device. You can also delete your account and all of its data from Settings inside the app. Deletion is permanent: your profile, every logged case, and everything associated with them are removed from our systems.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app before the change takes effect. This page is the canonical version.
